Gene Wilson - Gene was an outstanding basketball player at Kansas State University, one of the first black athletes at K-State in the early 50s. In 1961, he began his umpiring career, serving as a highly respected American Legion umpire in Northeast Kansas for over 30 years into the 90s.

Mike Torrez - Mike was a Topeka High athlete where he excelled in basketball during a time when Topeka High had no baseball program.
